Questions, answered plainly

The short version: start without an account, nothing goes live by itself, and if something is not built yet, we say so.

Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. Press Start building. Your draft is tied to this device by a secure cookie.

Can I carry on from another device?

Yes. Copy your private link and open it on the other device. Treat it like a key and keep it to yourself.

Can you email me the link?

Not yet. Email is not set up, so copy the link and keep it somewhere safe.

What does it cost to try?

Nothing. There is no checkout at all yet, and pricing is a proposal.

Is there a real person behind SMEO?

Yes. SMEO has a design and support team based in the UK, and a person checks every website before it goes live. Contact details are being confirmed, so they are not listed yet.

Building your website

Who is Otis?

Otis is the website guide in the builder: a guided set of questions, not an AI model. Otis asks one thing at a time, and the preview changes as you answer.

I gave the wrong answer. Can I change it?

Yes. Every answer can be undone, and Undo takes Otis back to that question.

How do I change the words on the page?

Tap any text in the preview and type. Undo and Redo are there if you change your mind.

Can I use my own photos?

Not in the builder yet; that is planned. It uses licensed stock photos chosen by theme. In Studio you can upload your own, and location data is removed.

Which pages do I get?

Home, About, Services and Contact. The home page has two starting layouts, Split hero and Statement, and each page has its own search title and description.

Will it work on phones?

Every starting design adapts to desktop, tablet and phone, and you can check each size in the preview.

Going live and afterwards

How does my website go live?

When it looks right, press Send to the team. Our team sets your website up on WordPress with Elementor from your design, then a person checks it before it goes live. It is a hands-on step, not an instant one, and nothing publishes on its own.

What is Studio?

Studio is where you look after a WordPress website built with Elementor, without wp-admin: pages, blog posts, photos and a visual editor that works on the real page.

Does a change go straight onto my live website?

No. Edits to a live page are staged on a private preview copy. You publish them from a review screen, and Studio then checks the live page shows the change.

Can someone edit my website in Elementor?

Yes. Pages use Elementor's native elements, so they stay editable in Elementor. Studio respects changes made there and refuses to overwrite them.

I binned a page by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Studio has a bin, and you can restore pages and posts from it.

Can anyone else see my website in Studio?

No. Each customer can only ever see their own website.

Pricing, domains and email

How much does it cost?

Pricing is proposed and not available to buy yet. The proposal starts at £10 + VAT a month for Smeo Start, with a domain and a mailbox; the pricing page shows the rest.

Can I use my own domain?

Self-serve domains are not built. The proposal is that every paid plan includes a .co.uk or .uk domain in your name, or the team connects one you already own.

Do you provide email accounts?

Not yet. The proposal includes a mailbox with every paid plan; it is planned and not set up. For Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, you would buy a licence from them directly.

Is there an analytics dashboard?

Not yet. Simple visitor analytics are planned.

Can I sell online?

Not yet. Smeo Shop is planned as a separate service, priced on its own. Nothing for it is installed and no payments are switched on.

Sometimes the quickest answer is to try it

Start with your business name. No account needed, and nothing goes live until a person has checked it.
